Martin, Michael(1979). The problem of experimenter fraud: A re-evaluation of Hansel's critique of ESP experiments. Journal of Parapsychology, 43(2), (pp. 129-139) Abstract Discusses C. E. Hansel's critique of ESP experiments. It is shown that his criticism based on what is called "the argument from impossibility" is much too strong: if generalized it would rule out all scientific revolution. It is then shown that his critique based on what will be called "the argument from improbability" could, if generalized, conflict with some cases of scientific revolution. A reasonable policy concerning experimenter fraud is considered in the light of recently discovered fraud in psychical research. (12 ref)
