Ellison, A J(1978). Mind, belief and psychical research. Proceedings of the Society for Psychical Research, 56(211), (pp. 236-249) Abstract Presents the 1977 presidential address to the Society, in which the speaker suggests that psychic investigators concentrate more on developing and exploring their own mental states. This might be done with raja yoga aided by biofeedback. Eastern literature on meditation, as well as that of the Theosophical Society, is rich in methods and new hypotheses. The speaker mentions a number of personal psychic experiences which have led to his conclusions. The experiments first suggested by Batcheldor in the United Kingdom and continued in Canada have shown that communications could be established, through table raps and movements, with a completely fictitious personality. Other topics discussed are out-of-body experiences, psychic healing, and the nature of reality.
