Abstract

Views faith healing as similar to hypnosis in that there is an interaction between the mind or psyche and physiological processes. Psychic healing, on the other hand, is seen as the transmission of some form of energy to the patient which in some instances may be psychokinetic in nature. In practice, however, both types of healing may often interact. Numerous examples from anecdotes and studies are cited as illustrations. (15 ref)
