O'Donnell, Sean (1977). The role of experience in paranormal understanding. Parapsychology Review, 8(5), (pp. 10-12) Abstract Cites personal experience and that of others to prove that almost anyone can develop paranormal capabilities through simple trial-and-error routines repeated for a few hours each week. It is argued that parapsychologists often fail because they lack first-hand paranormal experience. Too many approach experiments from the "outside," accepting in advance the untested assumption that the paranormal cannot be learned. In effect, they are like the tone-deaf trying to analyze a symphony. Specific advantages that would be gained by this wider personal experience of the paranormal by parapsychologists are discussed.
