Abstract

Describes the out-of-body experience as one in which the percipient experiences awareness from a perspective other than that of his/her physical body. The phenomenon is usually accompanied by actually "viewing" the body the person has "left," along with total awareness that the self is no longer contained within that body. Studies which have investigated this phenomenon are discussed, including the author's personal experience.
