Owen, Iris M & Sparrow, Margaret (1976). Conjuring up Philip.Oxford, England: Harper and Row. (xviii, 217 pp) Abstract Sheds new light on parapsychology and spiritualism by detailing experiments in which a group of 8 average Canadian men and women successfully produced a psychical phenomenon through their collective will. The volume discusses the experiences of the group in constructing the life and personality of Philip, a wholly imaginary 17th century Englishman; the psychokinetic phenomena which accompanied the group's willing Philip to appear; and the significance of the "Philip Experiment" for psychological and psychical research.
