Pratt, J G (1975). Outstanding subjects in ESP. Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, 69(2), (pp. 151-160) Abstract Reviews the history of experimental parapsychology with reference to the methods used for selecting ESP Ss during different periods. Contrasts are drawn between the selection and use of Ss in the 2 major types of psi investigations-those with single, high-scoring Ss, and group tests with unselected Ss. It is argued that at this stage of parapsychology the use of selected outstanding individual psi Ss is preferable.
