Cleobury, E H (1968). The theory of selective telepathy. Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, (737), (pp. 326-333) Abstract Selective telepathy theory is based on the interpretation of phenomena of mediumistic trances and automatic writing as messages from the departed, wherein the unconscious minds are able to select the persons having evidential information by mind reading. A metaphysical dualism of mind and body is assumed. Certain rejections are included such as materialistic monism, the concept of purpose, and epiphenomenalism. Explanations are given in detail, noting that the analogies are inadequate. It is felt that selective telepathy should be chosen in preference to genuine communication, and that this field will be investigated and will be both possible and common in the future.
