Pratt, J G (1963). The Girden-Murphy papers
on PK. Journal of Parapsychology, 27(3), (pp. 199-209) Abstract 3 papers on psychokinesis (PK) were
published in the Psychological Bulletin for 1962. In September (No. 5), E.
Girden presented a long review that was highly critical of the PK evidence.
In November (No. 6), G. Murphy replied and Girden gave a brief further
comment. The present paper examines this controversy from the point of view
of Girden\'s stated purpose of dealing with the question of whether the
occurrence of PK has been demonstrated. His papers are in a form that is not
appropriate for reaching a scientific judgment on this issue.
