Forwald, H
(1963). An experiment in guessing ESP cards by throwing a die. Journal of
Parapsychology, 27(1), (pp. 16-22) Abstract Acting as his own S, E shuffled a standard
pack of ESP cards and placed it face down without examining the order. Then,
having decided upon a code in which each symbol was equated with 1 of the
Digits 1-5, E threw a single die (ignoring throws when the 6-face appeared)
to obtain an order of 25 ESP symbols to be compared with the random order of
the pack. This shuffling and "calling" procedure was done 100 times in the
effort to get a high number of correspondences and 100 times for a low
score. The difference was significant at the .0001 level.
