were tested for their ability to respond by ESP to targets which consisted
of numbers made up of from one to 5 digits. No tendency was observed for
extra-chance hits to occur on the numbers as a Gestalt, although there was
statistically significant scoring on the separate digits. The most marked
effect was a tendency to hit on the outer digits of the multiple-digit
numbers and to score below chance expectation on the inner digits.
