Rhine, L E (1955). Precognition and
intervention. Journal of Parapsychology, 19, (pp. 1-34) Abstract A total of 433 case reports of experiences
which had reference to a non -inferable, undesirable future event were
analyzed to see whether any efforts were successfully made to prevent the
occurrence of the foreseen tragic consequences. The author recognizes that
instances of successful intervention would rarely be recognizable. However,
she applies a set of rigorous criteria to the available cases and ends with
a small number which suggest that intervention may be possible even in cases
which are truly precognitive in character. These few cases are not offered
as conclusive, but for their suggestive value for experimentation in
relation to the problem.
