Abstract
The clinical "hunch" in its various forms is well known but rarely explored by most medical professionals. Many healers claim that intuitive impressions are a regular aspect of their work, and considerable research has been published in support of the efficacy of healing. This report reviews the few available studies which assess the validity of healers' claims for intuitive diagnosis. It also presents two qualitative studies of intuitive diagnosis, along with discussions of theoretical issues and problems associated with such studies.
