Palmer, John(1989). "Randomness and the search for psi": Reply. Journal of Parapsychology, 53(4), (pp. 341-344)

Abstract

Comments that J. B. Gilmore provides an example of why it makes sense to define psi as an anomaly rather than a paranormal process. According to the anomaly definition, significant results on a random number generator (RNG) do not prove paranormality; instead they prove a statistical anomaly in search of a normal or paranormal explanation. Gilmore is criticized for relying too heavily on argument by analogy and for not thoroughly articulating the conceptual link between his fictional scenarios and real RNG experiments.
