Colman, Andrew M (Ed) & Beaumont, J Graham (Ed)(1989). Psychology survey, 7.US: Journal of Parapsychology. (S: Journal of Parapsychology) Abstract S. R. Feather and R. Brier (see record 1969-13486-001) reported the "checker effect," the apparently psi-mediated effects associated with the person who scores ("checks") precognition data. In a previous 2-series replication of the Feather-Brier research, D. H. Weiner and N. L. Zingrone (see record 1988-00012-001) obtained results that confirmed their findings and supported the observational-theory (OT) interpretation of the effect. The present paper describes 2 new series. Series III, an attempted replication of Series II, showed an interaction between run condition and observational context of checking which remained significant even when corrected for selection. Series IV replicated Series II: Outcomes were influenced by the checker, depending on the condition under which call-to -target matches were observed.
