Crandall, James E(1989). Reinforcement effect and displacement trend: No wine in old bottles? Journal of Parapsychology, 53(1), (pp. 61-67) Abstract Sought evidence of 2 phenomena concerning between-trials response displacement, the reinforcement effect and the displacement trend, through an analysis of data from 10 studies. The reinforcement effect involves a certain pattern of targets that may enhance between-trials displacement, and the displacement trend (E. Bindrim, 1947) involves a method of analyzing data for displacement effects. This method addresses the matter of consistency of displacement orientation. Implications of these analyses for possible processes underlying above-chance displacements are considered.
