Cartwright, D S(1989). Concurrent validation of a measure of transcendental powers. Journal of Parapsychology, 53(1), (pp. 43-59) Abstract Conducted 2 validation studies on a measure of transcendental mental powers (TMP), a concept in the personality theory developed by C. R. Rogers (1980), using 242 college students. Evidence for concurrent validity of TMP was obtained through its correlation with B. H. Bhadra's (1966) measure of Belief in ESP. By correlation with R. W. Hood's (1975) measure of reported mystical experiences, there was weak evidence of the construct validity of TMP. Exp 2 examined whether TMP taps beliefs in psi or experiences of psi and psi-related phenomena. There was evidence that TMP reflects reports of these experiences.
