Braude, Stephen E(1988). Death by observation: A reply to Millar. Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, 82(3), (pp. 273-280) Abstract B. Millar fails in his attempt to defend the observational theories (OTs) against the charge of a vicious causal loop made by S. E. Braude (1979). Millar claims that the OTs demand only the existence of a feedback channel, rather than feedback itself. But that gambit violates the original spirit of the OTs, undermines its (merely) apparent utility, and suffers from conceptual problems as severe as those it was intended to avoid.
