Blackmore, Susan(1989). What do we really think? A survey of parapsychologists and sceptics. Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, 55(814), (pp. 251 -262) Abstract Surveyed 38 leading parapsychologists and skeptics who were chosen on the basis of recent publications. There were 18 parapsychologists, 17 skeptics, and 3 unclassified. Group members first became interested in the subject at an average age of 21 yrs, either by reading or personal experience (including conjuring). Ss agreed that little is known about psi, that parapsychology has made a contribution to psychology, statistics, sociology, and other fields, and that its major problems include replicability. Almost all in both groups said their belief in psi had decreased. Ss differed mainly in belief in psi, organizational membership, and the kind of literature read.
