Schmeidler, Gertrude R(1988). Parapsychology and psychology: Matches and mismatches.Jefferson, NC, US: McFarland and Co, Inc. ((1988)) Abstract (from the book) This is a book about parapsychology, or in other words, about the scientific study of ESP, PK, and possible kindred processes. It states a theory about ESP and PK, then reviews the relevant research to see if the results support the theory.(from the publicity materials) Do mood and personality affect psi (ESP and PK)? The first section of this book hypothesizes that psi functions as other psychological processes do, and examines appropriate methodologies for testing the hypothesis. The second section, organized by psychological topics (such as experimenter effect or social psychology), evaluates relevant psi research. The third section discusses relations among psi subclasses, physicists' theories of psi, and the implications of the research described.
