Taylor, Eugene(1987). Prospectus for a person-centered science: The unrealized potential of psycohology and psychical research. Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research, 81(4), (pp. 313-331) Abstract Suggests that the limited place of parapsychology in modern psychology, despite the continued development of rigorous statistical criteria in its research, may rest more in the theoretically restrictive and outdated definition of science currently gripping psychology as a discipline rather than in the actual intrinsic worthlessness of parapsychology. Parapsychology may have an important role in helping psychology to mature by refocusing its agenda toward a scientific understanding of character development and personality transformation. Psychology as a discipline may then, in turn, be in a position to influence a similar evolution throughout the social, biological, and even physical sciences.
