Broughton, Richard S & Perlstrom, James R(1986). PK experiments with a competitive computer game. Journal of Parapsychology, 50(3), (pp. 193-211) Abstract Evaluated the use of a commercial computerized dice game in psychokinesis (PK) testing in 2 experiments with 86 undergraduates. Each experiment had a competitive and a noncompetitive condition. The tests were presented as competitive games of chance, and the results were examined in relation to Sport Competition Anxiety Test (SCAT) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) scores and responses to a questionnaire including items on health habits and psi experience. In Exp I, post hoc analysis of data from Ss who completed the questionnaire revealed significant negative correlations between scores in the competitive condition and SCAT and STAI scores just prior to playing and the custom of practicing mental or physical disciplines. Exp II confirmed the correlation between competitive condition scores and self-reported anxiety.
