Abstract

Reviews the proceedings of the 1985 convention of the American Anthropological Association. Issues addressed included research methods that have built up evidence supporting psi phenomena over the last 20 yrs, considerations of combining anthropological and parapsychological techniques and theories, remote viewing and random event generators, a review of the history of remote viewing in psychic archaeological research, the results of a cross-cultural study of magico-religious practitioners in 47 societies, considerations of consciousness, and a comparison of shamanic states of consciousness and the reports of people who have had near-death experiences.
