Haynes, Renee(1986). What do you mean by a ghost? Parapsychology Review, 17(4), (pp. 9-12)

Abstract

Discusses the phenomenon of hallucinations or "ghosts" and what may comprise their existence. It is suggested that different people may have different thresholds for experiencing such sights (similar to differences in pain thresholds) and that apparitions may come from within the perceiver, either through a flashback to the past or flash forward to the future (retrocognition or precognition), or by means of telepathy that causes the perceiver to project outside her/himself an external image of the person concerned, or an image that conveys what is happening to the person.
