Khilji, Anjum(1985). Beliefs and attitudes towards psychic phenomena: A survey in Pakistan. Journal of Indian Psychology, 4(2), (pp. 113-129) Abstract Presents results from a questionnaire survey of attitudes toward psi and belief patterns of the general public in Pakistan. The questionnaire consisted of 43 questions, 35 of which were related to attitudes and beliefs, 6 to demographic aspects, and 2 to religious beliefs. 347 students, professors, lawyers, doctors, engineers, businesspersons, and clergy completed the questionnaire. Results indicate that Ss generally had a positive attitude toward psi and that psi was accepted unconditionally by a majority of the Ss. It is suggested that such an acceptance may be due to the religious, sociological, and cultural biases in Pakistani society. (6 ref)
