Anderson, Rodger I(1985). Current trends in survival research. Parapsychology Review, 16(4), (pp. 12-15) Abstract Suggests that cases of mediumship, xenoglossy, and claimed memories of previous incarnations come closest to providing the type of evidence required to establish the continued existence of deceased persons, although they do not exhaust the avenues of approach being explored by researchers on the survival question. Other approaches have involved the investigation of apparitions and the production of tests to be planned by the S while alive and communicated after death. The difficulties of proving alternative hypotheses of survival phenomena are discussed, and implications of research on out-of-body and near-death experiences for the impasse between survivalist and nonsurvivalist assessments of the evidence for postmortem agency are considered.
