Ruben, Douglas H & Ruben, Marilyn J(1985). Is applied behavior analysis ready for parapsychology? A return to natural events. Psychology: A Journal of Human Behavior, 22(1), (pp. 36-46) Abstract Presents an argument for the application of behavioral methods in parapsychological research. First, a new behaviorism or interbehaviorism is described that approaches phenomena using natural observations rather than reification. A section on methodological application reviews models for research, stressing the importance of observation, replication, and continuity in applied science. It is also argued that phenomena believed to be above-normal will bind scientists to inventing above-normal technology. Phenomena treated as naturalistic, however strange they may first appear, will ultimately enable scientists to exploit current technology to its fullest extent. (20 ref)
