Hoevelmann, Gerd H(1984). Are psi experiments repeatable? A conceptual framework for the discussion of repeatability. European Journal of Parapsychology, 5(3), (pp. 285-306) Abstract Suggests a conceptual framework discussion of the repeatability problem in parapsychology. Comparisons with frameworks used in physics are noted, and it is pointed out that any empirical scientific knowledge depends decisively on the experimenters' active intervention in given situations. The role of language in empirical science is emphasized. Relative and absolute methodological restrictions on psychology and parapsychology are considered. A discussion of absolute methodological restrictions, which spring from differences between what is termed experimental and experimenting scientific activities, is presented to show why strict repeatability cannot be achieved in parapsychology.
