Cox, W E(1984). Magicians and parapsychology. Journal of the Society for Psychical Research, 52(798), (pp. 383 -386) Abstract Addresses the question of using a conjuring consultant (a magician) in parapsychological research. The practical limitations of using a magician are discussed, and criticisms by Joseph Jastrow, Milbourne Christopher, Martin Gardner, and James Randi of psychical research are presented. The usefulness of magicians is noted, and it is stressed that they should serve as advisors rather than as monitors. (16 ref)
