Abstract

Comments on the article by S. Blackmore (see record 1984-24766-001) on the present poor state of evidence that persons having an out-of-body or near -death experiences (OBE and NDE) sometimes show evidence of ESP. It is suggested that although Blackmore's discussion of the issue is helpful, she dismissed some evidence too hastily. Although the present author agrees with Blackmore on the need to expand models for research on OBEs and NDEs beyond the rather simplistic astral projection theory, she does not agree with the implication that possible theoretical models should be limited to either the astral projection theory or a psychological theory.
