Abstract

Addresses G. Hoevelmann's (see record 1985-11026-001) concern that some papers published in the parapsychological literature, including one by the present author (see record 1984-05511-001), offer psychologically based theories to account for the lack of acceptance of parapsychological phenomena and parapsychology as a legitimate branch of science. The present author delineates 3 purposes of his article: (1) to encourage experimenters to examine their own thoughts and feelings regarding fears of psi; (2) to stimulate empirical work on the problem; and (3) to bring psi into the open, determine its realistic and unrealistic aspects, and deal maturely with fears.
