Stokes, Douglas M(1982). On the relationship between mind and brain. Parapsychology Review, 13(6), (pp. 22-27) Abstract Explores the new and converging lines of thought regarding the problem of mind-brain interaction and the implications of recent neurological findings (particularly in split-brain research) for dualistic models of interactions. It is argued that understanding the nature of the mechanism of mind-brain interaction is an important prerequisite for the construction of hypotheses regarding the modus operandi of telepathy and other psi phenomena. Further, the nature of the relation between mind and brain has important implications for the survival problem (whether or not any aspect of the mind survives the death and dissolution of the physical body), which perhaps forms a more central part of the basis for many parapsychologists' interest in their field than many of them would care to admit. Traditional views regarding the mind-body problem, interactionism, problems arising from split-brain research, and the question of survival are discussed. (17 ref)
